For over a year the growth has been tremendous. The success of the teams undeniable. The direction was always forward. The one big question though that had gone unanswered until recently was, where is home for 31 North? With 31 Sports Academy in Sumiton, ran by Ricky Bowen, and fields scattered between schools that were gracious enough to let 31 use them, home was a place that most gypsies could identify with.. That all changed Feb 5th as the lease agreement was voted on by the Brookside City Council giving 31 North the rights to Bensko Park for the next 20 years. Brookside Mayor Roger McCondichie and Chief of Police Jason Springfield were instrumental parts in making what was a dream a few months ago become reality. Plans are to have the park ready for practice by March 1st and hopes of being tournament ready by as early as next Spring. This leaves 31 North in a position to recruit some of the best talent available in the Birmingham Metro and surrounding areas but more importantly an opportunity to do community outreach helping various programs such as the Boys and Girls Club located in Brookside.
